Wyvern Lingo announce Dolans Warehouse gig on September 15th
Indie R&B trio Wyvern Lingo is to play Dolans Warehouse on Saturday, September 15th, the venue have announced.
Coming on the back of an exceptionally busy summer for the band, the Dolans Warehouse gig will see the band return to Limerick following their support of Walking on Cars live at King John’s Castle in July.
Wyvern Lingo’s summer schedule 2018 will also see the band perform with Grace Jones at the Trinity Sessions in Dublin, Indiependence Festival in Cork and at both Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK.
Wyvern Lingo consists of Caoimhe Barry (vocals, drums), Karen Cowley (vocals, synth, bass) and Saoirse Duane (vocals, guitar).
The three were childhood friends who forged lasting musical bonds as they grew older. Before the release of their debut record, the band collaborated with the artist Hozier singing backing vocals in his live band and toured as his opening act. Along with their first Headline Tour, the band has received significant radio play in Ireland.
They recently released their new single. Entitled ‘Crawl’ the single is featured on their critically acclaimed 2018 album which was released last February.
Wyvern Lingo describe themselves as “…three individuals whose lives are inextricably linked. We know each other inside and out and can’t lie or fake it in front of each other, so our lyrics are awash with honesty.”
Originally inspired by the work of the likes of Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell and Simon & Garfunkel; the band then starting their own thread of music, which stitches together a rough but resilient tapestry of influences, taking in folk, hip-hop, rock and R’N’B, all united by the spectral chill triggered by their unique vocal harmonies.
The trio self-released their first EP - “The Widow Knows” in 2014, which brought them to the attention of Irish independent label Rubyworks. Extensive international touring followed with James Vincent McMorrow and fellow-Bray native Hozier, and a second EP - “Letter to Willow”, followed in 2016.
According to the Irish Times their "eponymous debut album goes even further down that experimental rabbit hole." from their earlier demos and work with Hozier.
Thin Air, the global music and culture forum, highlighted their musical style on their first album as such: "This transition through the stages of heartbreak across the album present us with a question surrounding the transience of sadness. The sound of the album works alongside the development of this theme”.
Speaking after this morning’s announcement Neil Dolan said: “Limerick is extremely lucky to be graced with the unique style of Wyvern Lingo this year. We will see them support Walking on Cars in July but their stand-alone Warehouse gig in September really should prove to be something special”.
Tickets for Wyvern Lingo’s Dolan Warehouse show on September 15th go on sale this Friday (29th June) at 9am and can be purchased viahttps://www.dolans.ie/gigs-events-live-music-listings/2018/9/15/wyvern-lingo

Dolans proud to be a supporting venue for Limerick Pride celebrations 2018
We would like to take this opportunity to wish the Limerick 2018 Limerick LGBTQ festival the very best as it prepares to kick off next week.
Dolans are once again proud to be a supporting venue for Limerick Pride celebrations. For over a decade we have hosted a wide variety of events during Limerick Pride and have been delighted to help the festival grow year on year.
When the concept of a Limerick Pride celebration was introduced back in 2001 by both Paddy Doyle and Nicole Dunphy, the LGBTQ community in Limerick was a very different place to where it is today. In the intervening years, Ireland has radically changed for the better.
To witness the spirit of community, openness and acceptance has been a joy. Dolans have been delighted to be part of the Limerick Pride journey.
Here at Dolans we continue to support the Limerick Pride vision. This year’s festival is based on the theme of “We are Pride” which celebrates the many wonderful Limerick people who have played a significant role in the development of Limerick Pride.
Great credit is due to this year’s Limerick Pride team for the fantastic series of events that are planned for the week of the festival. There really is something for everyone. We are particularly delighted to see Richard Lynch honoured as this year’s Pride Parade Grand Marshall.
Richard’s input, energy and dedication to the festival since he got involved back in 2008 has played an important part in both the growth of the festival as well as the recognition it has received outside of Limerick. There really is no more fitting a candidate for Grand Marshall than Richard and we hope he enjoys the experience.
The Limerick Pride LGBTQ Festival 2018 will be taking place starting on Monday, July 2 until Sunday, July 7 with the Parade on Saturday, July 7 and will feature a multitude of events from workshops, support meetings and discussions to evenings of music and club nights.
Here at Dolans we are hosting two important Pride events – ‘I Heart the Cranberries’ and the access all areas Pride Climax Party.
‘I Heart the Cranberries’ takes place in Dolans Warehouse on Thursday 5th July. Conceived by local musician Emma Langford in collaboration with Limerick Pride this event is a loving tribute to the music of The Cranberries. All proceeds from the event will go to Adapt House and Limerick Mental Health.
‘I Heart the Cranberries’ will see over twenty artists from all over the country gathering to pay tribute to Dolores O’Riordan and the music of the Cranberries with their own unique renderings of the band’s music. This event will be a celebration of diversity, women, the LGBTQ community and Irish music at its very best.
This event is sold out and should prove to be one of the highlights of this year’s festival. The Dolans team would like to congratulate the team behind the event for the hard work that has been done over recent months to make this happen and we look forward to welcoming you all on the night.
Saturday, July 7th sees Dolans play host to the Pride Climax Party, an access all areas celebration of all things pride. We are especially thrilled to be hosting the Lasgo vs Ian Van Dahl Battle Tour as headline act for the Party.
From 9 pm the Warehouse will light up for this year’s pride party with acts from across the globe. KiKi St Clair is your host for the evening with performances from Fada, Letycha Le’Synn, Mia Gold and Europe’s number one Pink tribute act Laura Tapp.
With three venues, three DJs, including Saved by The 90’s upstairs in Dolans and 80’s and camp classics in the Kasbah Club this is seen as the party of the year here at Dolans
Pre-tickets are on sale until Wednesday at a special price of €12 & can be purchased online at www.dolans.ie or Ticketmaster.ie.
On behalf of all of us here at Dolans we want to wish all those who are taking part in the celebrations a very happy Pride and look forward to welcoming you all to Dolans.

Goth Pop act Pale Waves confirm Limerick gig date
Dolans Presents have announced that British Indie-Goth pop act ‘Pale Waves’ will play Dolans Warehouse on Sunday, October 7th.
The gig, announced this morning, will be part of Pale Waves’ UK and Ireland tour which kicks off this autumn.
This summer is a busy one for Pale Waves. They recently released their new single ‘Kiss’ and are currently touring Europe and are set to play the TRNSMT festival on June 29.
They will also support The Cure at British Summertime in London on July 7 before wrapping up their summer with shows at the Reading and Leeds Festival.
The Dolans Warehouse performance will be one of the Manchester-based quartet’s biggest headline shows to date.
Hot Press have described the band as having a ‘dark pop sound - heavily indebted to dreamy '80s synth-pop acts like the Cure and the Cocteau Twins – which has garnered the young band a cult-like following’.
The band was signed to the Dirty Hit British independent label in 2017. Their debut single, "There's a Honey," was produced by members of The 1975, their label-mates. Along with a busy touring schedule, Pale Waves released their second single "Television Romance" and worked toward a debut album.
Speaking to the BBC recently, founding member and band guitarist Heather Baron-Gracie described the dark tones their debut album saying: “The songs we have out now are very influenced by romance. The album is me talking about a lot of my darker issues. I talk about a lot of things that go on in my mind rather than in my heart".
The Guardian has described the band as “the sort of new band who delight in subverting expectations…. the Manchester four-piece launch into Television Romance, their biggest tune to date (2.9m YouTube views), Pale Waves reveal themselves to be less pale and interesting and more sly and funky”.
Speaking at today’s announcement, Neil Dolan of Dolans Presents said: “Pale Waves are one of the most exciting indie rock acts to hit the music scene. They have notably cited names such as The Cranberries, Prince and The Blue Nile as influences”, he said.
“2018 is being seen as a year when this band is really making a name for itself. Pale Waves are being noticed and fast. We are really excited to be hosting them at Dolans Warehouse as part of their UK and Ireland tour later in the autumn”.
Pale Waves were ranked fifth in the BBC Sound of 2018 poll and won the NME Under the Radar Award at the NME Awards earlier this year. Their debut EP, All the Things I Never Said, was released digitally on 20 February this year and was followed by a 12-inch vinyl release on 16 March 2018.
It was also announced that the band had signed to Interscope Records in a joint venture with Dirty Hit to release music in the United States. The band's debut album is scheduled to be released in mid-2018.
Pale Waves will play Dolans Warehouse on Sunday, October 7th. Tickets are available via www.dolans.ie or by contacting the Dolans Box office on 061 314483.
