DIE Presents: Dart

We are beyond excited to welcome modern day hard house pioneer - DART to the Warehouse

Known for his hard hitting style of trance and house, his feel-good sound has seen him travel the globe from Fabric London all the way to Nicaragua. Caterpulting to success in 2018 when he was given the title 'Best Emerging Producer' by AVA festival, he began to get support from major artists beginning his rise through the electronic scene. Since then he has had appearances on major platforms such as Boiler Room and The Lot Radio NYC.

Launching his own imprint in 2024 "rapidtrax" he brings back the golden years of "handbag house" teaming up with good friend Kyle Starkey to start a new chapter

With mountains of anthems under his belt and huge production releases on the horizon for DART - this show is going to be a special one indeed! Expect nothing but high energy from this Dublin Native!

On support duties we have EAMO! This man has built his reputation playing house and disco music in Limerick over the last few years and truly knows how to get a party started! After he lifted the roof off our second room last October, we just knew we had to get him back for more!

Upstairs this month we cannot wait to welcome NIALL KELLY! To say this guy has been catching our eye for a while now would be an understatement!

Niall is a 22 year old Irish based artist specialising in Groove & Tribal techno. His sound is heavily influenced by the late 90’s & early 2000’s era of loop driven techno, but it’s no surprise to find a variety of genre’s in Niall’s highly energetic sets.

He has performed all over Ireland in the last 3 years, with headline shows in various Irish cities including Galway, Sligo, Limerick, Dublin & Belfast. In Summer 2023, Niall made his first Irish festival appearances at Electric Picnic & Life Festival, and also wrapped up his first tour in Canada & America with performances in Vancouver, San Diego, San Francisco, Chicago & New York alongside his former collective. He has since performed solo shows in Glasgow, London, Norwich & Berlin and is looking forward to ticking off some more cities before the end of 24’.

Joining Niall we have DIE.LK resident Maedbh O'Connor! Known across the board for her electrifying performances and ability to seamlessly blend raw and driven energetic techno, Maedbh has gained herself a very respectful reputation in the clubbing scene in Ireland and further afield. She holds a wealth of knowledge under her belt, being a resident of MOTZ (Berlin) and DIE.LK and has a keen understanding of what it takes to keep a dancefloor moving!

So there you have it - our seasonal return and a big one at that!

FLYTE

Flyte is the project of English songwriters Will Taylor and Nick Hill. The pair met at secondary school, eventually settling in Hackney, London. Taylor’s parents were both English teachers and inevitably, various literary influences trickled into the duo’s music- the band taking it’s name from Sebastian Flyte of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited.

After the release of two critically acclaimed albums, they have established themselves as an influential mainstay. The Loved Ones (2017) recorded with Burke Reid (Julia Jacklin, Courtney Barnett) in the Australian outback, explored the ways in which people struggle to process love. The albums’ crafted storytelling and ambitious, harmonic arrangements earned it the title ‘Best British debut of the year’ from the Sunday Times.

Second album ‘This Is Really Going To Hurt’ (2021), took them out to Los Angeles to work with collaborator Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Bon Iver). Seeing the sound move into a more simplistic and confessional mode, focusing entirely on the aftermath of relationships ending.

After extensive touring of Europe and North America, Flyte have teamed back up with Andrew Sarlo, this time at London’s famous Konk Studios, to record their most confident and collaborative work to date. The latest self titled album, inspired by Taylor’s relationship with partner and artist Billie Marten, explores love in all its early forms and features artists such as Laura Marling, Bombay Bicycle Club and M Field.

Aleka and Oxygen Thief

Tickets €15 plus booking fee

Romania: Songs of Love and Longing is the newest E.P. from Romanian-born, Irish-residing singer Aleka. The E.P. will be released on the 1st of February 2024. The E.P. features 4 tracks with fresh arrangements of traditional Romanian folk melodies, using elements of jazz and rock propelled by the thrilling rhythm section of Chris Guilfoyle on guitar, Barry Donohue on bass, and Matthew Jacobson on drums. The release reflects Aleka's life journey from being born and raised in Romania as a classical cellist to moving to Ireland and becoming one of the most exciting and versatile vocalists in the Irish jazz scene. Romania: Songs of Love and Longing is an ode to both her home country and her adopted homeland of Ireland.

'Fresh sounds with eastern tinges' - The Irish Times 'Experience, delight, vocation, hardwork, emotion, recreation, variation, improvisation – all of these revealed a moment of musical quality' – MagmaNews (Romania) ‘Hip cosmopolitan sounds... have a borderless, trans-national flavour, liberally spiced with bossa nova, downtown jazz, outlier pop, art rock and free improv’ The Irish Times about ‘Aleka’ EP

Oxygen Thief's music aims to reimagine the traditional confines of the jazz guitar trio by blending elements of math rock and electronica together with jazz. The trio featuring Chris Guilfoyle on guitar, Barry Donohue on bass and Matthew Jacobson on drums - has a unique chemistry through their years of playing as the rhythm section in the critically acclaimed quintet Umbra. They’ve joined forces with Aleka, a Romanian vocalist based in Dublin, who has made a name for herself as one of the top jazz singers in Ireland, garnering attention of Irish jazz household names, working alongside the likes of Tommy Halferty, Michael Buckley, and Ronan Guilfoyle. As well as playing in Ireland, she has been a featured guest with the Romanian Radio Big Band, and toured with her band across Romania last summer to promote her latest release ‘Romania: Songs of Love and Longing’.

Martin Mcaloon of Prefab Sprout

Martin is thrilled to be taking his solo show to Ireland in October – the dates in Dublin, Limerick and Belfast will be his first dates in Ireland for almost quarter of a century!

“The gigs kick off in Dublin, which seems fitting as it’s where the Sprouts played their last full concerts” observed Martin.

Although born with the open road in his blood, Prefab Sprout appear to have had a forty-year aversion to playing live and he hope these new shows will address his gigging addiction.

He’ll be revisiting the repertoire written by his brother Paddy, that stretches back through the classic Prefab Sprout albums: Swoon, Steve McQueen, Protest Songs, Langley Park to Memphis, Jordan: The Comeback, Let's Change the World With Music, Andromeda Heights, The Gunman and Other Stories, I Trawl The Megahertz and Crimson / Red.

Expect all the hits and pared-back acoustic versions of Prefab Sprout's most beloved songs, along with some storytelling and the opportunity to meet Martin after the show.

Folk for The IMNDA

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA):

“Until there is a cure, there is care"

Motor Neurone Disease is currently an incurable disease and people with the most common form of MND have a life expectancy of 2-5 years from onset of symptoms.

The IMNDA cannot slow the progression of MND or change the outcome but they can alleviate the feelings of isolation and frustration. They offer consistent support and services to approximately 450 families across Ireland who otherwise would have nowhere else to turn. MND is a rare disease and it develops differently for everyone diagnosed. Therefore, everybody with MND has different needs at different stages of their journey and the IMNDA is here to help and guide them every step of the way.

Key services provided by the IMNDA include:

• Access to specialised equipment on loan. e.g. wheelchairs, hoists, communication aids etc. (many people with MND will lose their speech at some point and the IMNDA provides highly specialised equipment that allows people with MND to continue to communicate with those around them).

• Access to a home care grant.

• Access to 6 outreach nurses directly employed by the IMNDA and funded entirely by donations.

• Access to funding towards counselling sessions for the person with MND and family members.

The IMNDA also funds and promotes research into the causes and treatments of MND, but the majority of funds raised from generous donors and supporters go towards providing these services to people with Motor Neurone Disease. The services provided by the IMNDA are immediate and free of charge for everyone registered with the Association. Your support is absolutely vital. More than 85% of the IMNDA's income comes from fundraising and donations.

Thank you for your support!

 Gerry (Fiddle) O’Connor

From an early age, Louth native Gerry O’Connor was involved Irish music and dance, winning numerous All Ireland titles between 1967 and 1973 in a range of formations including duet, trio and four Céili Band titles. Playing with the influential Sligo fiddle player John Joe Gardiner in the 1970’s formed Gerry’s style of music. His own background in step dancing translates into the music for which he is noted; today he is regarded as one of the great fiddle players of his generation.

He has played and recorded with highly-regarded groups such as Lá Lúgh and Skylark and has toured and recorded with members of all the legendary groups including Planxty, Bothy Band, De Dannan, Boys of the Lough and The Chieftains.  Lá Lugh’s album “Brighid’s Kiss”  was voted Album of the Year 1996 by readers of the Irish Music Magazine.   His solo album “Journeyman” was counted in the top five Albums of the year 2004 by the Irish Times. This critically acclaimed solo album, was heralded as a significant milestone in recording the music of the “Oriel” region of South Ulster. His 2006 live album recorded with Gilles le Bigot was a celebration of the cultural links between Ireland and Brittany. This duo has toured continually for the last 20 years. When Gerry is not touring around the world he works as a violin maker/restorer (luthier).

 Greenshine

GREENSHINE is a Cork based family trio comprising Noel Shine, Mary Greene and their daughter Ellie. Their material straddles the boundaries of contemporary, folk and roots and includes many self-penned songs. The band is known for striking family harmonies and excellent musicianship.

Noel is a multi-instrumentalist, turning his hand to guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, bouzouki and traditional whistle and this musical dexterity had seen him much in demand as a session and band player by artists as diverse as The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and funk and soul legends The Republic of Loose amongst many others. Mary brings rhythm guitar to the mix and her voice is a wonderfully versatile instrument. She has added her talents to the albums of Christy Moore, John Spillane, Mick Hanly and Frances Black as well as cult psychedelic outfit Dr. Strangely Strange.

Ellie Shine grew up surrounded by music and has been performing in concerts and festivals since the age of 13 including an appearance with GREENSHINE for President Michael D. John Francis Flynn

Often, to imagine Ireland is to fantasise about rolling hills, giants, saints and snakes. As John Francis Flynn says, it involves “a fair bit of paddywhackery and I hate paddywhackery.” The psyche-celtic album artwork for John’s second album Look Over The Wall, See The Sky, hints at this too though: a crystal goblet of luminous green Crème de Menthe resting upon a mossy ledge, perfectly encapsulating this imagined idea of Ireland in a way that is both funny and poignant. But, if you have to imagine Ireland in the first place, then you’re probably not too familiar with its reality: the towering glass giants of Google and Facebook, the unaffordable luxury hotels lining the Liffey amidst a homelessness epidemic and the highest rents in Europe.

On his new single ‘Mole In The Ground’, a cover of an American anti-establishment folk song recorded by Bascom Lamar Lunsford in 1928, John evokes the rebellious energy he felt in his home of Dublin during a time when it was being “torn to shreds by property developers and vulture funds.” In his rendition, John allows the surrealism of the song to take centre stage, opting to speak rather than sing the words. By taking away its nursery rhyme-like melody, we focus instead on our narrator's stranger fantasies and desires. His voice, too, sits under the ground of the melody, tapping into the song’s dark, hallucinatory spirit: “I don't like the railroad man/The railroad man will kill you when he can/ and he’ll drink up your blood like red wine.”

To listen to this album is to witness history through a modern lens in a trance-like state. As expected, Flynn’s contemporary influences are sufficiently esoteric, from ‘The Heart Pumps Kool Aid’ by —__–___ to ‘The invention of the Human’ by Dylan Henner (a concept album about an AI learning to sing). However, he was also inspired by his contemporaries in the traditional music scene in Ireland, many of whom contributed to the album, as well as those outside of it, such as noise-rockers Gilla Band and Rising Damp.

Traditional music of course is not one-size-fits-all. Each song has its own story, history and characters which the singer must serve. “You can't sing all the songs. Well some people do. But you can tell if someone doesn’t connect with that song…” On the record’s closer, ‘Dirty Old Town’ by Ewan McColl, John takes a song that’sbeen “done to death”, strips it back, slows it down and unexpectedly adds brass, harking back to the working-class colliers bands of the early 20th Century. In his reimagining of the song, rather than intensifying it he does the opposite, offering a calm and grounding resolution to an otherwise otherworldly album.

On his last record, I Would Not Live Always, John was much more conscious of bringing acoustic instruments and weird synthesized sounds together as a concept. But now with his unique musical language fully formed, “I feel freer within that language to experiment and take it further without it being too conscious or premeditated”.

Instead, the songs seem to live somewhere in John’s subconscious, as he is often able to visualize exactly how they will sound before putting them down. With ‘Kitty’, (famously recorded by Shane MacGowan on The Pogues’ debut, ‘Red Roses For Me,’) John had already heard a version of this song structured loosely in his head involving a drone, a warped clarinet, and a simple Robert Wyatt-esque beat. The result is a two minute lament after which sudden distortion punctures through a wall of sadness before pulling back completely to just a singular drone. Similarly, with ‘Willy Crotty’ (a track recorded in a bedroom with members of The Mechanical Bull McCabe featuring the unlikely combination of a clarinet, a handheld radio, a Casio SK1, a harmonica and an effects pedal) we witness how this subversive way of recording can get to the root of a song’s emotion by removing the boundaries and expectations that traditional instruments can sometimes enforce. It is less about the use of drones or synthesizers or clarinets, “but it's the treatment of them.”

These effects become John Francis Flynn’s guttural language; sometimes they are tiny droplets glitching in the background, other times they are great droning waves gushing through the songs. For John, they often come to represent a descent into intense sadness. Where we might hear horror or feel terror, John explains that these effects are always aiding the emotional leverage of the song, as for many of our protagonists, “these are the sounds of their lives are being torn apart.”

The sonic landscape created through the unconventional use of instruments jagged arrangements often teeters on the edge of disharmony, but it gives the work a magnetism by drawing you into its curious orbit of experimental folk. John masterfully unpicks traditional songs and rearranges them with an emotional force that sometimes leaves them unanchored. They float in a surreal space between the past and the present, the analog and the digital, between love and tragedy. Look Over The Wall, See The Sky is an album concerned with imagination, but not only with what John calls, “an imagined Ireland,” but also the re-imagining of traditional Irish music and the hopeful fantasy of an Ireland that could exist ‘over the wall’: powerful, hopeful and free.

Emma Doran: Dilemma-Comedy

It’s the post-apocalyptic world. There’s only one contraceptive pill left. Do you give it to your 19-year-old daughter or keep it for yourself? Is it better to be a 40-year-old grandmother or a 40-year-old new Mum. These are the dilemmas facing Emma Doran aged 39 and 7/8’s, even though the most obvious outcome is neither. If turning 40 is the start of something new, what is it the end of?  ... ah here, where’s me vape?

Emma Doran is one of the most exciting stand-ups to emerge from these shores in years. She’s crammed so much into the last 20 years of her life that she is now officially the voice of 3 generations.

The Grogans

Genre-fluid outfit The Grogans are one of Australia’s hardest working young bands. Forming in 2018 whilst in high school, the Melbourne/Naarm trio haven’t stopped since, releasing 3 EPs ‘Cacteyed’, ‘Twangs n Cans’ and ‘Grogan Grove’, and 3 albums in ‘Just What You Want’, ‘Day To Day’ and most recently ‘Which Way Is Out’. Each release has seen the genre-hopping trio showcase their musical ability, touching on blues, surf and garage rock as well as maneuvers in punk and psych.

This impressive output saw the band go from playing backyard gigs on the Mornington Peninsula to supporting bands including Ocean Alley, WAVVES (US) Hockey Dad and The Chats as well as sharing festival line-ups with Franz Ferdinand, Los Bitchos and The Teskey Brothers.

The band have completed a plethora of headline Australian & New Zealand tours which have included sell out shows at The Croxton in Melbourne, Crowbar in Sydney, The Brightside in Brisbane, Lion Art’s Factory in Adelaide, Badlands in Perth and more as well as appearances at festivals nationally and internationally including Your & Owls (NSW), Wanderer Festival (NSW), NYE on the Hill (VIC), Dauwpop Festival (NL), London Calling (NL), Beast Of A Feast (NZ), NinchFest (VIC) among others.

In support of their most recent single ‘Nowhere To Be’ the band completed a 27 date AUS/NZ tour which saw them sell out 14 shows and took them to the UK/EU for the first time where they sold out 7 of their shows. This single was heralded by Rolling Stone Australia and saw the band nab the feature artist slot on triple j Unearthed who described the band as “one of the most consistently hardworking live acts in the country”. This hard-working ethos is matched only by their down to earth mentality when it comes to making music, explaining that “It’s all about doing it for music. You’re going to play some crappy gigs but then you play a few good ones and it’ll make it all worth it, so give it a crack”. The Grogans commitment to making incredibly varied, distinct music, sharing good experiences at their live show and genuine elation on playing together is clear to see and explains why they are one of Australia’s brightest bands.

Martin Angolo-Comdey

Martin Angolo: Idiot Wind

Idiot Wind is the noise that comes out of a comedian's mouth in the form of jokes and observations, and Martin Angolo is full of it. The award-winning Irish comic looks at modern Ireland's positive and negative cultural shifts compared to the rest of the world, in an hour that's silly and politely offensive, in order to challenge the idea that 'comedians can't say anything these days'.

As seen on Amazon Prime's LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland and Instagram where he's gotten millions of views on his videos.

Thanks to its compelling blend of modern and traditional Irish elements, the album went on to achieve, multi-platinum status. Songs such as The Island, Crazy Dreams, Nothing But The Same Old Story, Nobody Knows, Follow On, The Long Goodbye, The Homes of Donegal and Paradise Is Here have, over the years, given joy and emotional sustenance to generations of Irish at home and abroad.

Soon after the release of ‘Hard Station’, his first album of his own compositions in 1981, his songwriting began to come to the attention of artists worldwide and his first ‘cover’ came the following year when Carlos Santana recorded ‘Night Hunting Time’. Since then his songs have been sung by many international artists including Tina Turner, Cher, Carole King, Art Garfunkel, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, Cliff Richard, Trisha Yearwood and Phil Collins and, closer to home, Ronan Keating, Joe Dolan, Dickie Rock, Maura O’Connell, Liam Clancy and Mary Black.

With more than sixteen albums to date, the most recent release ‘The Vicar St Sessions Vol.1’ was recorded live in premiere Dublin venue Vicar St in 2001 and it features collaborations with many of Paul’s contemporaries and special guests.

An evening with Paul Brady on stage is a captivating experience, as he invites you into his world of songs and music in a way that will surprise in its intimacy, sense of fun and raw power.

By now a well-loved ‘elder statesman’ of the Irish musical community, he continues to garner respect and admiration from today’s younger writers and performers. Glen Hansard, Imelda May, Wallis Bird, Declan O’Rourke and new kid on the block Hozier are among the many that hold him in high regard.

In November 2015 Paul was awarded a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from The National Concert Hall, Dublin, Ireland which was presented by The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.

Double Header with Fire in Cairo, A Tribute to The Cure and D-Mode, the ultimate Depeche Mode Tribute

Fire In Cairo

Out of all the bands that emerged in the immediate aftermath of punk rock in the late ’70s, the Cure was one of the most enduring and popular. Finally, 5 Cure enthusiasts have thought to give Irish Cure fans the chance to don the eyeliner, brush off the mascara and relive the 80′s!! The band covers all classic Cure songs from the debut release 3 Imaginary Boys, through the hairspray and glitter of the 80′s era and right up to the bands position of 90′s alternative pop darlings. Fire in Cairo recreates the sound, feel, atmosphere and attitude of a classic Cure show. The band also toured Ireland with Cure co-founder Lol Tolhurst. "It all happened pretty organically," said guitarist Manolis Pates. "Our Dublin promoter was looking to bring Lol's book tour here and suggested we play after him each night. Once we were put in contact, he agreed to possibly get up and do a song. We actually managed to get him playing on four songs, I think he really enjoyed it!!"

Fire In Cairo don’t just play the Cure songs; they give them a new lease of life and remind you why you feel in love with them.

DMODE are Ireland’s No. 1 Depeche Mode experience.

This homage to the Basildon boys’ spans everything from electro-pop classics like New Life right through to Enjoy the Silence and beyond, sound and visually it’s a must for fans of Depeche Mode, concentrating on Gahan’s razor sharp vocals, the genius of Martin Gore’s guitar-perfect melodies and Andy Fletchers spot on synth.

No Hidden Catch, No Strings Attached….Just DMODE….

An Evening of Music and Comedy with Creed Bratton

Creed Bratton's story has always been a music story, but a relentless drive for success and a stroke of luck led him down an entirely different path in Scranton, PA. Now, as he prepares to release his 10th studio album, Tao Pop, on September 27, Bratton cements his place in music history as he blissfully explores his many interpretations of pop music.

Tao Pop marks Creed’s fifth time working with multiple Grammy Award-winning producers Dave Way (Michael Jackson, Fiona Apple) and Dillon O’Brian (Keith Urban, Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr). To collaborate on four individual tracks, he brought in longtime friends Billy Harvey, Geoff Pearlman, Vance DeGeneres, and Dillon O’Brian.

There's a natural sense of humor across the record, as seen on tracks like first single "Turn The Corner Of The Universe," an infectious anthem that imagines a future where climate change is in our rearview mirror. There’s also Tao Pop's cover art, a futuristic depiction of Creed adorned with a USB outlet in his skull, inexplicably receiving an AI-baby from its AI-parents. Obviously, this is because Creed’s a funny guy––what started as a non-speaking role quickly turned him into a global star for his work as Creed Bratton on the American version of The Office, which is now one of the most streamed television shows of all time.

But many might not realize his life in the spotlight first began with music, and Tao Pop feels like a culmination of his many eclectic experiences. Raised in a small mining town between Fresno and Yosemite, Creed saw his mother and grandparents all playing music from a very young age. Later, he’d impress with his acting skills in school plays before eventually dropping out of his drama major in college to travel across the world in search of himself. He’s told this story before––busking across Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and later becoming a member of the folk-pop group the Grass Roots, Creed experienced more in his early musical lifetime than most could say they’d ever aspire to, but he always felt there was more. Bratton’s solo career technically began the moment he left the Grass Roots in 1969 but he kicked it off with his debut album in 2003, Chasin’ The Ball. Eight more full-lengths followed, each one unraveling more layers of Bratton’s extensive musical universe.

Today, in his everyday life, Bratton embraces a sense of acceptance for whatever is meant to happen next. In the same sense, Creed’s autodidactic nature shines through in his music-making process. He lets the songs come to him, allowing his subconscious to guide the way. This approach mirrors his broader philosophy: the world is here to help us, but we often get in our own way. By allowing the Tao to cruise through his life, Creed processes trauma and expresses spiritual yearning through his music.

Co-written with Vance DeGeneres, “Turn The Corner Of the Universe” stands out as a particularly uptempo moment on Tao Pop. Inspired by an article Creed thinks he read in Popular Mechanics––”something about the healing ozone hole in the Arctic Circle,” he says––the song imagines a future when humans finally get their act together and stop polluting the planet; a utopia with clean oceans and no more plastic waste. When asked further about the song’s inspiration, Bratton gleefully defended himself: "people have been blaming me for climate change and I’m just sick of this. It’s not my problem!”

The album’s artwork was inspired by Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity Is Near; after reading it, Creed envisioned the image while meditating, imagining a world where AI-bots and humans coexist seamlessly. In this dream, Creed is the last human standing, thriving in a world dominated by robots and AI—a poignant metaphor for his enduring presence in the music world.

Talisk

One of the most talked-about folk bands of the 21st century, Talisk have been tearing apart stereotypes and redefining the genre for almost a decade. With over 15 million streams, 10,000 albums sold worldwide, and sold out shows across five continents - from Paris to New York, London to Tokyo, Glasgow to Vancouver - alongside headline appearances at festivals the world over, the Scottish trio have amassed a global, die-hard following.

Wielding instruments that have rarely seen the likes of their music, Mohsen Amini (concertina), Benedict Morris (violin) and Charlie Galloway (guitar) have stacked up major awards for their explosively energetic sound - including five between BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Scotland, and two highly coveted BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.

At New Year 2022 they played BBC One’s Hogmanay show to a television audience in excess of one million, and - as the only folk act alongside pop headliners - quickly amassed a vast, mainstream audience that continues to propel the group to some of their largest live shows to date. Headlining Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland Ballroom in 2024 - during Europe’s largest winter festival, the legendary Celtic Connections - Talisk’s star remains firmly on a rapid ascent, and then some.

Never afraid to push musical boundaries, or test the live production capabilities of just three people (yes, it’s all live), there’s captivating a crowd, and then there’s Talisk.

Paddy Dennehy

As a child Paddy would rush to get a guitar or play the piano very loudly in the hopes that you might hear it and request a song before you left. It was often requested of him to play more quietly or to stop ‘hitting’ the piano. Another frequent suggestion was that screaming the notes that he found difficult to sing did not make them sound any better. He was not imbued with a keen sense of subtlety or restraint but he has been working on this over the years.

His first real sense of feeling a connection to music was listening to Mick Flannery perform ‘Evening Train’ on the ‘Late Late Show’. The very next day he walked into HMV in Limerick with his walkman and bought that album. He listened to it all the way home and for weeks afterwards again and again. From here there is a clear trajectory of influences - Mick Flannery led him to Tom Waits. Tom Waits led Paddy to Randy Newman who would lead on to Nick Cave. Other influences would surface in later years but Flannery, Waits, Newman and Cave have formed the bedrock of Paddy’s music.

Paddy’s first album ‘Little Light’ was released in June of 2020 to both critical acclaim and a well documented pandemic. He received glowing reviews from Hotpress magazine in Ireland, Folk Radio UK, Rolling Stone France to name a few . The songs on that album have allowed Paddy being invited to share a stage with the likes of Mick Flannery, Glen Hansard, Imelda May, Lisa Hannigan , Gemma Hayes and Paul Noonan.

‘Love and Be Brave’ is the title of his second album released in May 2023. When he started writing this album Paddy lived alone on his father’s small farm in County Limerick. It was a long way from anywhere and afforded him plenty of time to think, write and play with everything on full volume. It was both cathartic and challenging.. ‘Love and Be Brave’ - That’s the point of the album. Love bravely, never passively and don’t take love as a given thing in this world. It must be earned and protected fiercely

Mercury Rev

Beginning as avant-pop pranksters and evolving into purveyors of rootsy, majestic psych-pop, Mercury Rev aren't so much a band as a long, strange trip. The volatility of the group's early days likely added an extra spark to the one-of-a-kind mix of shoegaze, noise pop, psychedelic, and experimental music on 1991's Yerself Is Steam and 1993's Boces, which offered the first hint of just how ambitious their music became later in the decade. As their lineup changed, their musical horizons expanded; on 1995's See You on the Other Side, they added adventurous free jazz excursions and lullaby-like melodies with striking results. Though Mercury Rev won critical acclaim from the start, they didn't achieve commercial success until their 1998 breakthrough album, Deserter's Songs, which combined intimate songwriting with a fresh take on Americana. As they continued to evolve with 2008's electronic Snowflake Midnight and paid homage to one of the great underappreciated albums with 2019's Bobbie Gentry's The Delta Sweete Revisited, heartfelt emotion and experimentation remained equally vital to Mercury Rev's music.

Formed out of the experimental art and music scene at the State University of New York at Buffalo in the late '80s, Mercury Rev originally featured vocalist David Baker, vocalist/guitarist Jonathan Donahue, guitarist/clarinetist Grasshopper (born Sean Mackowiak), flutist Suzanne Thorpe, bassist Dave Fridmann, and drummer Jimy Chambers. As a child, Grasshopper studied clarinet and loved jazz artists like John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Miles Davis; later, when he began playing guitar, he drew from classic rockers such as Neil Young and the Allman Brothers as well as the Velvet Underground's Sterling Morrison and Television's Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd. After playing with the local Buffalo groups the People's Front and Sunny in Chernobyl in the early '80s, Grasshopper began playing bass with Shady Crady, an avant-garde band who also included Donahue among their members, while pursuing a B.A. in the State University of New York at Buffalo's Media Studies program.

By 1989, Shady Crady had evolved into Mercury Rev (a name whose inspiration was variously attributed to an imaginary Russian ballet dancer, a sharp rise in temperature, or a revved-up auto), with Grasshopper switching to guitar. The band's earliest recordings were improvised soundtracks to TV nature documentaries and student films. Encouraged to further their music by Grasshopper's academic mentor, minimalist composer and multimedia artist Tony Conrad, the group recorded a demo onto a reel of 35mm magnetic film. During this time, Donahue worked as a concert promoter and scheduled a Butthole Surfers gig. After the show, he befriended the support act, Oklahoma's like-minded Flaming Lips, and soon joined the tour as a guitar technician. Donahue -- under the alias "Dingus" -- became the Lips' lead guitarist, playing on 1990's In a Priest Driven Ambulance, which Fridmann co-produced.

Though Mercury Rev effectively were in limbo with members scattered across the country, the band's demo tape made its way to the British offices of Rough Trade Records, which contacted Baker about signing the group. Soon, the band convened to record their debut, Yerself Is Steam, which they recorded at the same time Donahue and Fridmann were also working on the Flaming Lips' major-label debut, Hit to Death in the Future Head. After the album was complete, Donahue left the Flaming Lips to concentrate on Mercury Rev. In May 1991, Yerself Is Steam was issued to widespread acclaim for its melodic yet free-form art pop epics. However, within weeks of the LP's release, Rough Trade's American branch declared bankruptcy, aborting any hopes of proper distribution or promotion. Nevertheless, the group toured the U.K., something they were unaccustomed to -- their London show was their second performance ever -- and their volatile gigs highlighted the tensions between Baker and the rest of the group.

Following the tour, the members of Mercury Rev again went their separate ways, but Sony signed the group and reissued Yerself Is Steam along with an extra track, the sublime single "Car Wash Hair" (recorded with the aid of Luna's Dean Wareham). In 1992, Mint Films and Jungle Records reissued Yerself Is Steam with the bonus disc Lego My Ego, a set featuring live performances as well as a cover of Sly & the Family Stone's "If You Want Me to Stay."

To craft their second album, Mercury Rev set up studio space in a barn and collected samples from sites as far-ranging as Times Square and NASA's Cape Canaveral to flesh out the music's dense, prismatic sound. However, tensions within the band continued; several pop songs Donahue had written were scrapped in favor of songs that were a better fit for Baker. Named after a New York special education program, Boces arrived in June 1993 and was even more freewheeling than its predecessor. The album reached number 43 on the U.K. Album chart, but it wasn't as successful in the States. Mercury Rev played Lollapalooza's second stage but were kicked off the bill during the festival's Denver stop due to excessive noise. Additionally, a video for the single "Something for Joey" was shot with porn star Ron Jeremy, but the clip's suggestive space-age sexcapades and visual double entendres made mainstream airplay a moot point. That year, Fridmann stopped touring with the band, and following a fractious U.K. tour supporting Spiritualized, Baker was dismissed from Mercury Rev's ranks. Under the name Shady, Baker issued 1994's World, which he recorded with luminaries from the Boo Radleys, Rollerskate Skinny, and St. Johnny.

Minus their former lead singer, Mercury Rev continued to evolve. In 1994, Grasshopper developed the Tettix Wave Accumulator, a homemade tone generator made of oscillators, filters, and wave shape manipulators that the band used on that year's Everlasting Arm single and their third album. Released in September 1995, See You on the Other Side incorporated influences from jazz and show tunes as well as psych-rock on songs that boasted more melody and newfound emotional depth. That October, the group also issued Paralyzed Mind of the Archangel Void, a largely improvised 40-minute set, as Harmony Rockets. However, the lack of label support for See You on the Other Side, financial and substance abuse issues, and personal losses took a toll on Mercury Rev. Chambers departed the band, who asked to be dropped from Sony. Grasshopper spent six months in a Jesuit monastery in Spain, then recorded the solo album Orbit of Eternal Grace, which arrived on Beggars Banquet in 1998. He reconnected with Donahue, who had suffered a nervous breakdown, and the pair released a cover of the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory song "I've Got a Golden Ticket" as Harmony Rockets in 1997.

Mercury Rev also resurfaced in 1997, first appearing on the Chemical Brothers' Dig Your Own Hole, then starting work on their fourth album. To focus on their music, Donahue and Grasshopper relocated to the Catskills, where they wrote songs inspired by their new home base and their favorite children's music, and returned to songs written during the band's infancy. Working at Tarbox Road studio with Fridmann -- who was also recording the Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin at the time -- Mercury Rev were joined by the Band's Levon Helm and Garth Hudson as they replaced the feedback and distortion of their previous music with strings, horns, and woodwinds. While they were recording, Mercury Rev signed to V2 Records, which released Deserter's Songs in September 1998. For the first time, the group matched their sizeable critical acclaim with commercial success: The album was a hit in Europe and the U.K., where it was certified gold.

For their next album, Mercury Rev were slated to work with Jack Nitzsche -- famous for his arrangements on many classics of the Phil Spector canon -- until Nitzsche passed away a week before recording began. Expanding on the dramatic blueprint of Deserter's Songs and featuring string arrangements by Tony Visconti, All Is Dream appeared in September 2001. Like its predecessor, it was certified gold in the U.K., and the single "The Dark Is Rising" hit number 16 on the U.K. Singles Chart. The band continued to follow their bliss as the 2000s unfolded. The Secret Migration, a collection of sentimental love songs, reached number 16 on the U.K. Albums Chart when it was released in January 2005. Late 2006/early 2007 was a busy time for the group, with the arrival of the best-of Essential Mercury Rev: Stillness Breathes 1991-2006, the soundtrack Hello Blackbird, and the mix album Back to Mine all arriving at that time.

Mercury Rev moved to Yep Roc for 2008's delicate, largely electronic Snowflake Midnight, which reached number 52 on the U.K. Albums Chart when it arrived that September. The band also released a companion album, Strange Attractor, as a free online download. The following year, Mercury Rev contributed a cover of Miracle Legion's "Sailors and Animals" to Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy, a benefit album to help Mulcahy continue to make music and raise his family after the sudden death of his wife Melissa in 2008.

Mercury Rev spent the 2010s celebrating their past successes and moving forward. In 2011, a deluxe edition of Deserter's Songs that included rare demos and remixes arrived. The following year, Grasshopper and Donahue resurrected Harmony Rockets for tours of Europe and the United States that resulted in a pair of digital albums, The Crawling Journey of the Serpents Starry Night and Angels Are Spirits, Flames of Fire. Mercury Rev's projects were just as experimental and included performances of Mercury Rev's Cinematic Sound Tettix BrainWave Concerto Experiment at John Zorn's New York City venue The Stone.

The band returned with new music in the form of their October 2015 Bella Union debut, The Light in You, a collection of songs Donahue and Grasshopper largely recorded at their Catskills home base with bassist Anthony Molina and engineer Scott Petito. That year, the group also began their next project, a track-by-track re-creation of Bobbie Gentry's 1968 cult classic album The Delta Sweete. Featuring a roster of female singers that included Lucinda Williams, Norah Jones, Phoebe Bridgers, and Vashti Bunyan, Bobbie Gentry's The Delta Sweete Revisited arrived in February 2019. That November, the band released a deluxe version of All Is Dream that included B-sides, live performances, and other rarities. In September 2020, Mercury Rev gave The Secret Migration a similarly lavish reissue featuring Hello Blackbird among its extra material. The following May's deluxe version of The Snowflake Midnight contained Strange Attractor as well as live recordings and a generous amount of previously unreleased music. ~ Heather Phares & Jason Ankeny, Rovi

Amble - SOLD OUT

2024 bodes to be a year to remember for the Amble men. Their four-track EP “Of Land and Sea” will be released on all streaming platforms on Friday, 16th February. "Of Land and Sea" release will coincide with their sold-out tour of Ireland and the UK.

Amble are Robbie Cunningham, Oisin Mc Caffrey and Ross Mc Nerney, a 3-piece ensemble of songwriters hailing from the midlands and west of Ireland. In only ten months, Amble have garnered over 135k monthly Spotify listeners and is fast approaching the 4,000,000-stream total, averaging over 30,000 streams a day.

To date, Amble have sold out all shows, The Workman’s Cellar (April 2023), The Sugar Club on November 30th, 2023 (selling out five months in advance) and now sold out their entire debut Irish Tour five months in advance (dates below). They have also sold out their debut London headliner, adding a second sold-out date and upgrading and selling out their Glasgow debut in King Tuts.

If Amble’s debut EP, 2023’s “Amble (Live)”, introduced a new musing, trad-tinged trio of songwriters to the Irish music scene, 2024’s highly distinctive “Of Land and Sea” finds the group expanding their sound to an ever-more global audience.

The unique perspective of three individual songwriters creates a peerless body of work that only enhances the now familiar ruminative observations on the world and, more pertinently - the stories unfolding each day within it.

Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets

Dylan Flynn & The Dead Poets make songs that come from the heart. The Limerick group are aiming for pure communication – surging Indie-Rock that comes with a pop openness, their widescreen yet down-to-earth musicality has a viral appeal, yet remains DIY in origin.

2023 saw the band self-produce and release their debut album and take on their biggest shows to date – packing and selling-out rooms across the UK & Ireland. 1,000,000 streams later, support slots with the likes of NewDad and Kingfishr, and continuous radio support in the UK & Ireland, has shown that these lads are one’s to watch for 2024.

At times they recall the buster of The War On Drugs, or the vitality carried by Gang Of Youths; there’s a nod to Radiohead’s raw emotion, or Springsteen’s surging passion – with their songs speaking to twenty-somethings living in a country that completely ignores them.

Part of a wave of energy within Irish music, the band have been nurtured within a close-knit creative community - yet are unafraid to speak with a singular voice.

Scustin'

More than just a band, Scustin blurs the lines between crowd and artist. When you step into a Scustin concert, you don’t just watch the band—you become part of it. Scustin is a state of mind, a shared love for all things craic. To be "Scustin" is to belong to a group united by this love, where every show is a celebration of connection, culture, and pure, unfiltered fun.

With scintillating performances across Ireland, the UK, and the Netherlands, as well as standout festival appearances at Electric Picnic, Latitude, and Other Voices, Scustin has earned a reputation for high-energy, interactive live shows. Their performances are an electrifying mix—imagine a panto on cocaine or a Guinness stained, musical orgy featuring Blindboy, Mike Skinner, and Jamiroquai at The Harbour Bar in Bray.

Through their beloved pastime of "Pub Talkin’," Scustin invites the audience to join them at the table, pint in hand, for a night of storytelling, shenanigans and ‘the craic’ that might echo the vibe of your most revered pub. With fan favourites like “The Ick,” “I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again,” and “Drinking Cans in a Field With Matt Damon,” Scustin leaves audiences with no choice but to dance, sing along, and become part of the community they create at every show.

Gurriers

Strictly over 18’s

As the end of the first quarter of the 21st century inches ever closer, our planet precariously teeters from one crisis to the next. Rather than passively sit back and watch, Gurriers are launching a searing counterattack on the malaise of the modern age with a forthcoming album of raucous reflection, Come and See. Come and See explores many themes, be they the end of the world, the disenfranchised youth of Dublin, emigrant friends, the rise of the far right, desensitisation to violence, a pope struggling with belief and love amongst other things. With songs noting how modern narcissism is fuelled by an addiction to online personas (“Des Goblin”), about the disillusionment of contemporary youth (“Dipping Out”), and tongue-in-cheek anthems mourning the rise of the far right (“Approachable”), Come and See is no ordinary debut, but an exhilarating statement of intent by five people fed up with tiptoeing politely around the chaos.

Come and See will be released 13th September 2024

Ger O'Donnell & Trevor Sexton

Ger O Donnell & Trevor Sexton are two vocal powerhouses whose close harmonies and instrumental styles complement each other beautifully.

With influences spanning Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and Pete Seeger, the work of Trevor Sexton is created with intent, crafting songs through storytelling to give voice to his life experiences. His talent is such that he has enthralled audiences at the Cork Opera House, Vicar Street and the UL Concert Hall.

For Ger O’Donnell, collaboration is his muse as he has garnered a loyal following over the years, sharing the limelight with some of the legends of our time. The music educator, arranger and composer has worked his way from classical flute and fife to rock and strings, reaching the coveted No 1 slot in the Irish charts for his singles ‘Turquoise Ink’ and ‘Talk about the Heroes’.

A duo greater than the sum of its individual parts, their mix of traditional and original material interspersed with sprinklings of witty banter has transfixed audiences throughout the country. Really Good Time

Really Good Time are a band from Dublin, that sound like ‘Vertigo’ era U2 covering Viagra Boys, or early Pixies and LCD Soundsystem records in a blender with some cheap speed.

They make loud, generally fast music that toes the line between noisy and melodic, weird and anthemic, always aiming to capture the ecstatic release found in a sweaty crowd moving together amidst waves of amplification.

After getting matching boiler-suits made, the band played their first show in July of 2021, coming out of lockdown to headline a 200 person festival at 1am in the rain. Having realized their first dream too soon, RGT experienced an existential crisis to which the only response was to dream bigger, which has now effectively translated into the band playing every show like they are in an arena, because that’s where they’re intent on going.

The summer of 2023 saw Really Good Time take larger stages, supporting Franz Ferdinand at Collins Barracks, playing All Together Now, RGT released their debut EP ‘Escape From the Mountain of Spit’. The EP and lead single received high praise from Steve Lamacq, drawing favorable comparisons to early QOTSA and The Walkmen on his roundtable review. The release was supported by a run of showcase festivals in the UK, and a spate of shows supporting The Scratch and The Murder Capital. Closing out a bumper year with debut performances at Other Voices and a festive Dublin headline in December, RGT are already looking towards what's sure to be a big 2024

Lyra, Live at the Big Top

LYRA is one of the most striking talents to have emerged from Ireland in the past few years. Hailing from County Cork, she's established herself on both the domestic and international stage with a string of exciting, vibrant singles accompanied by a unique style of visual presentation that is never less than stunning.

The last 2 years have been particularly thrilling for LYRA, with the spectacular success of her one-two punch of hit singles: the ultra-catchy ‘Lose My Mind’ and the uplifting, dancefloor collab with John Gibbons on Stevie Nicks’ classic ‘Edge Of Seventeen’. In addition to these big tunes, she's released successful collaborations with dance artist UNSECRET and Bill Whelan on ‘Riverdance: The Animated Adventure.’ She also soundtracked An Post’s Irish festive campaign with her track ‘The Magic Of Christmas’.

After a 22-date sold out Irish tour in Spring 2024, LYRA releases her debut, self-titled album, unveiling a comprehensive reflection of who she is today. Written between Los Angeles and London, the 14 tracks express the broad range of her musicality, journeying from the dark and sultry “Chess” to the ethereal radio hit “Falling” and the pulsating dance anthem of “Lovers”, all of which elevate her powerful vocals that have given her a one-to-watch status.

Altan

Altan is arguably the most iconic band working in traditional Irish music today. For the past 35 years, they have been bringing the music of their native County Donegal to the world stage. Irish-language songs and dynamic twin-fiddling, the hallmarks of Altan’s sound, framework the band’s newest album, aptly titled Donegal. The album’s 10 tracks pay homage to Donegal’s rich musical heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant culture. The authenticity and allure of the music transports listeners to a bygone time in rural Ireland while simultaneously forging a connection between the past and modern times.

Bandleader, lead vocalist and fiddler Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh is in fine form, lending her angelic voice to “Liostáil mé le Sáirsint” and “The Barley and the Rye” and contributing “Port Árainn Mhór/Port Kitty Rua Mooney,” an outstanding set of jigs, to the project. Altan’s newest member, Clare Friel, shares vocal duties with Ní Mhaonaigh, most notably on the track “Faoiseamh a Geheobhadsa” and adds her fiery twin fiddle playing to great effect. Accordionist Martin Tourish brings his formidable chops and compositional sense to the medley “The House of Baoithín” which pays homage to the mid 6th century Saint Baoithín. Dáithí Sproule (guitar), Mark Kelly (guitar, harmony vocals) and Ciarán Curran (bouzouki, mandolin) round out the band which is augmented by special guests Jim Higgins (percussion), Steve Cooney (bass) and Graham Henderson (keyboards) on select tracks.

Recorded by Manus Lunny at Stiúidió na Mara (“Seafront Studio”) in County Donegal, Donegal captures the essence of the region which has inspired Altan since the band’s inception and further cements Altan’s legacy as one of the great cultural treasures of Ireland.

No trad Irish band in the last thirty years has had a wider impact on audiences throughout the world than Altan. Formed in County Donegal in 1987 by lead vocalist Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and her late husband Frankie Kennedy, the group’s music is influenced by traditional Irish language songs and tunes from Donegal. Mick Flannery

Mick Flannery is one of Ireland’s most acclaimed songwriters and singers. The award-winning, double-platinum selling artist has released eight studio albums, three of which have reached No. 1 status in his homeland.

Goodtime Charlie, Mick’s eighth studio album was released in September 2023. Partnering on this release in North America with Oh Boy Records, the legendary label started by John Prine in 1981. He is the label's first international artist.

Mick Flannery’s songs are fluent in expressing layered aspects of the human condition, its flaws, triumphs, and general uncertainty. His live shows are renowned for his self-deprecating humor, audience engagement and the ability to bring people on a journey of both heartbreak and joy, often in the same instance.

Mick has built up a reputation over the past decade as one of Ireland hardest working musicians, touring extensively at home and in more recent years abroad as his songs have been reaching folks farther afield. Ireland's best kept secret appears to be no more.

Cherie Currie presented by Bad Reputation

70’s Icon and Ex-Runaways singer Cherie Currie has released her latest solo project which features a bevy of rocks finest on the new album, Blvds of Splendor. The album is available digitally today via Blackheart Records HERE and features guest collaborations with Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Slash and Duff from Guns N’ Roses, as well as Juliette Lewis, Brody Dalle, The Veronicas and drummer Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver), who also produced the set.  “Cherie’s voice tells it all, she is the real deal. And now more than ever that voice tells the story of where’s she’s been in her life. This record is about who Cherie Currie is now. We’ve waited a long time to hear this icon of Rock N’ Roll do what she does best. I’m very proud to be a part of this album by one of the best female singers of all time.” said Matt.

Cherie & Matt originally began work on Blvds of Splendor when Cherie was promoting The Runaways movie (currently streaming on Netflix) which stars Dakota Fanning as Cherie and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.  After its inception, Cherie went back to work on her chainsaw  carvings (see here: CNN) and did other studio work for 2015’s Reverie release, which features some of the last works of legendary Runaways manager/producer Kim Fowley

In 2016, Cherie was set to release Blvds of Splendor when she had a near death accident while chainsaw carving falling over 12 feet to the ground off of a hilltop scaffolding.  The accident left Cherie with partial facial paralysis and severe head trauma for over 10 months.   After her recovery, she met and went in the studio with Fanny drummer & vocalist Brie Darling and in 2019 they released their critically acclaimed The Motivator album via Blue Elan Records.  Cherie is back to chainsaw carving again and is ready to finally release  Blvds of Splendor. I’ve never had so much fun making a record before. We all looked at each other and went, ‘Oh my God, there’s magic happening here Cherie said.

Blvds of Splendor was released on 180 Gram Translucent Red Vinyl for Record Store Day in 2019 with a limited run of 3000 copies.  This is the first time the highly anticipated album is available worldwide digitally for the fans. The digital release features three bonus tracks (including a remake of The Runaways classic “Queens of Noise” featuring Brody Dalle, The Veronicas, Juliette Lewis and Matt Sorum paying homage to late Runaways drummer Sandy West) that were not included on the Record Store Day vinyl release.

The Complete Stone Roses

The Complete Stone Roses are one of the UK’s most well-known, most seen and most successful tribute bands. Selling out venues across the UK and Ireland regularly, they have helped to carry on the music of one of the UK’s most influential bands - The Stone Roses.

The Stone Roses played a pivotal role in the history of the UK’s indie music scene. Famous hits like Fools Gold, I Am The Resurrection and I Wanna Be Adored are as recognisable now as were the heyday of Madchester and the Hacienda, the cultural icons from which the original band were born.

The Complete Stone Roses play to acclaim from fans themselves, the press, and even original Stone Roses band members. Stone Roses bass player Mani has not only just appeared as a warm up DJ for the band on the odd occasion but has also played onstage with them as their guest bassist playing She Bangs The Drums on more than a few times when he was touring about with the band. Mani says "they do our songs real justice. At times, they play even better than we did".

They have also performed alongside Peter Hook (New Order), Clint Boon & Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and the legendary Bez (Happy Mondays), all Manchester legends in their own right and have even created a somewhat celebrity fan-base with artist’s such as Chris Helme, Stuart Fletcher and Andy Watts (the seahorses) Andy Rourke (The Smiths), Rick Witter (Shed 7), Andy Couzens (The Stone Roses), Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas) and Shane MacGowan (The Pogues) who each, individually over the last few years, have either appeared as a support DJ/Guest for the band or have attended one of their gigs purley as a fan of stone roses music being played to perfection in a live enviroment.

The Doors Alive

"To call The Doors Alive merely a tribute act would be a huge disservice to what is
the closest thing possible to experiencing a Doors concert without the aid of a flux
capacitor and 1.21 gigawatts. They are high priests who allow us to worship at the
altar of The Doors by continuing the word and gospels of Jim Morrison, Ray
Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore." - Pure Magazine, Ireland.

The band recreate the sound, look, presence and magic of a real 1960's Doors concert,
perfectly and effortlessly transporting the audience back in time with classic hits such as
"Light My Fire", "When The Music's Over", "Riders On The Storm", "The End" and many
more. The Doors Alive have over 1,000 shows under their belt to date.
The Doors Alive formed in 2005. Since then there have been a few changes, but the
current line up is the best it has ever been!

Frontman Mike Griffioen captures the look, attitude and rich baritone voice of the late great
Jim Morrison with ease while his compadres Barrington Meyer on guitar, Buzz Allan on
drums and Norbert Varga on keyboards showcase the musical chops of original Doors
members Robby Krieger, John Densmore and Ray Manzarek with finesse and authenticity.
They take pride in using the exact same vintage equipment to achieve an authentic sound,
including Rhodes Piano Bass, Gibson G101 organ, Gibson SG and Ludwig Mod Orange
drum kit. They are keen on making every single show unique by authentic improvisations
and changing the set regularly so you will never see the same show twice!

The Doors Alive have left awestruck audiences in several countries around the world,
including the UK, Ireland, Australia, Denmark, France, Belgium, The Netherlands,
Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Malta, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, UAE and Chile to
name but a few. They repeatedly sell out some of the most well established venues in
Europe. They have played at the legendary Isle of Wight Festival and played on the same
bill with such legendary musicians as Status Quo, Canned Heat, Nazareth, Uriah Heep,
Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Eric Burdon and Kris Kristofferson. In Chile the band played
an arena show to 4,500 Doors fans! In several countries including France and Lebanon
the band have been featured on national television.

Scotland’s favourite Brutal Party Slam band PARTY CANNON are BACK with their HEAVIEST, SLAMMINGEST, and DUMBEST album yet; an overwhelming helping of the henchest and most nauseating Party Slam. The band have doubled down on their signature Party Slam style to bring you an experience so IQ-lowering, so soul-crushing, so life expectancy-reducing that we recommend you wear a helmet while listening for your own safety. 'Injuries Are Inevitable' takes us on a deep dive of the infamous Action Park; the world’s un-safest theme park. Through the medium of guttural vocals, rapid blast beats, and anabolic slam riffs you will be taken on an immersive 4D experience of the debauchery, partying, and downright irresponsibility this iconic park had to offer.

No admission for cowards, big dumb party riffs only.

Dave Hause

DAVE HAUSE’S SONGS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ROOTED IN TANGIBLE REALITY—OF EMOTION, OF ENVIRONMENT, OF CIRCUMSTANCE.

Since releasing his debut album, Resolutions, in 2011, the Philadelphia-born songwriter has poured his whole heart, soul and life into his music. That’s no different on Drive It Like It’s Stolen, his sixth full-length. Its 10 songs overflow with Hause’s trademark urgency and passion, shimmering with a truth that reflects the harsh realities of life in this day and age, as well the intermittent jolts of joy that punctuate it. After all, his songs have always detailed his own personal traumas and triumphs within the setting of an unforgiving capitalist backdrop, tethering those personal experiences to ineluctable external forces. 2013’s second album, Devour, for example, was a response to his divorce from his first wife, while 2019’s Kick saw him tackle hope, depression, global warming and a crumbling American democracy with the news that he was to become a father. Most recently, on 2021’s Blood Harmony, Hause wrote and sang about the positive impact of having twins, and of the joy and excitement of being able to be at home with them for the first couple of years of the pandemic.

Drive It Like It’s Stolen is just as earnest and heartfelt, raw and real as anything he’s ever written before. Yet there’s also a subtle yet significant difference—here he’s delving into a more fictional type of storytelling to create what he terms "post-apocalyptic Americana.” That’s clear from the title of this album’s haunting and ominous opening song, “Cheap Seats (New Year’s Day, NYC, 2042)”. Set two decades in the future, it’s obviously not about anything that’s actually happened, but is still very much inspired by life. At the start of 2022, Hause was in a good place. He’d changed his diet and had maintained a strenuous workout regimen resulting in improved physical and mental health. Feeling great, he’d decided to go off Lexapro and left to go out on the Blood Harmony band touring.

Nouvelle Vague

Nouvelle Vague, the renowned bossa nova project founded by Marc Collin and the late Olivier Libaux in 2003, has become a musical phenomenon over the past two decades. Initially conceived as a one-off tribute to post-punk songwriting in a bossa nova style, Nouvelle Vague's debut album unexpectedly soared to global acclaim. The band's unique fusion of melancholic post-punk and bossa nova, coupled with their daring French reinterpretation approach, set them apart. The new album, inspired by vocalist Alonya's rendition of The Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go," continues Nouvelle Vague's tradition of reinventing classics. It amplifies the timeless significance and continued impact of Nouvelle Vague's musical legacy.

Darren Kiely: the never been here before tour

Following two sold out shows in The Academy last week, Cork singer-songwriter Darren Kiely has announced details of his Never Been Here Before Tour in March of next year. The tour opens with a show in Ulster Hall, Belfast on 5th March, before moving on to a hometown show in Cork City Hall on Saturday 8th March, followed by National Opera House, Wexford on 9th March, the biggest headline show of his career to date in the 3Olympia Theatre on 13th March, before coming to an end in The Milk Market, Limerick on Saturday 15th March 2025.

Hailing from a quaint town in Co. Cork, Ireland, Darren Kiely’s folk-infused pop sound originates from his inherited love of traditional Irish music, intertwined with modern influences such as The Lumineers and Noah Kahan.

At just five years old, Darren learned the tin whistle, and at eight years old he picked up the fiddle, eventually teaching himself to play guitar as well. Darren began singing in 2019, quickly garnering attention for his raw and fervent vocals and emotive delivery. After winning numerous honors at a national level in Irish traditional music, Darren found his way to New York in 2022 to continue developing his own music and sound.

Since then, he has entered Ireland’s top 50 viral charts on three separate occasions: with his debut single “How Could You Love Me,” followed by “Ella” and “Time To Leave.” The singer-songwriter recently added buzzworthy new track “Mom & Dad” to his repertoire, which debuted in the Top 40 on the Irish Singles Chart and also landed him in the Top 5 on the Irish Home Grown chart.

With over 6.5 million total global streams under his belt and recent sold out shows at Rockwood Music Hall and Mercury Lounge in New York and The Basement in Nashville, Darren is set to bring his THE ROAD HOME TOUR to his home country of Ireland in November. With stops in Cork, Dublin, Galway and Limerick, the tour sold out the same day it went on sale.
